Understanding Operational Costs

Currently, our $250 per student for operations leaves a gap to cover essential expenses like utilities, insurance, technology infrastructure, curriculum materials, and maintenance. We have a breadth of operational needs:

  • Property insurance and liability coverage 30,000 square feet across nearly 10 acres
  • Technology infrastructure including internet, software licenses, computers, and educational technology platforms
  • Utilities such as electricity, gas, water, heating, and cooling for extensive facilities
  • Routine maintenance supplies including cleaning materials, landscaping, and building repairs
  • Administrative costs like communication systems, office supplies, and regulatory compliance

The new model allocates $1,400 per student (20%) for both operations and strategic investments, allowing us to maintain our facilities properly while making intentional investments in curriculum enhancements, facility improvements, and professional development that directly enhance your child's educational experience.

Our Journey

During the years following the pandemic, temporary federal relief funds provided stability for our school community. They allowed us to absorb rising costs and limit tuition increases to just $250 per year, even as inflation reached levels few of us had ever experienced. These grants were always intended as short-term support, not a permanent solution. They gave us the time to plan carefully, steward resources wisely, and prepare NHC for a sustainable and thriving future.

Across thriving Christian schools, 75–85% of tuition revenue is typically devoted to supporting faculty and staff. At NHC, nearly 95% of our tuition income currently goes to the teachers and staff who guide and care for your children each day, leaving only about $250 per student to cover all other operational needs. This upcoming adjustment will allow us to better support our teachers while also investing intentionally in the programs, resources, and learning environments that most directly enhance your child's daily experience.

Our new target of 80% personnel spending ensures we can fully support the teachers who guide your children each day and cover essential operational needs such as insurance, utilities, technology, and maintenance. It also allows us to make intentional investments in strategic priorities, including curriculum enhancements and professional development, so that every child benefits from a richer, more engaging, and well-supported learning experience.

Where Your Investment Goes

The $2,000 increase enables strategic investments across four key areas:

👨‍🏫
Teacher Excellence

🏛️
Facility Stewardship
Maintenance and repairs across 30,000 square feet and 10 acres that communicate beauty, order, and care
📚
Curriculum Enhancement
Expanded Latin instruction, enriched music and visual arts programs, enhanced logic, rhetoric, and literary arts curriculum
🎯
Faculty Development
Ongoing recruitment, training, and support that ensure our teachers are highly skilled, continually growing in their craft, and able to provide every student with the richest possible learning experience

Frequently Asked Questions
Why this increase? Why now?
Pandemic relief funding has now been fully exhausted. We stretched every dollar to maintain stability and keep tuition increases minimal for as long as possible, but the reality of rising costs made it necessary to plan for the future. After careful study and reflection, we determined that $7,000 provides a sustainable foundation that ensures your children continue to receive excellent instruction, small classes, and a nurturing environment. This amount reflects thoughtful consideration of our costs, the investments needed to enhance your child's daily experience, and the long-term health of our school community.
Will tuition keep increasing dramatically?
No. We anticipate predictable increases of 3-5% annually after this adjustment. The goal is to establish a sustainable baseline, then grow with inflation and strategic program enhancements.
What if we cannot afford this increase?
Please apply for aid through the Forever Falcon Fund. We've expanded resources specifically to ensure mission-fit families can afford NHC. We are committed to working with every family who shares our vision.
Can we pay in installments?
Yes. We offer multiple payment plans to accommodate family circumstances. Details will be provided during re-enrollment.
Will there still be a sibling discount offered?
Yes. We will continue to offer a sibling discount of $250 per additional student enrolled. The student in the highest grade level will be charged full tuition, and younger siblings will receive the sibling discount. The discount is on tuition only, no other costs, and is applicable for students Kindergarten through 12th grade.
How will I see this investment improve my child's experience?
This investment builds on the strong foundation your child already enjoys, enriching the curriculum and learning environment in meaningful ways. You will notice deeper engagement in Latin, music, the arts, science, and writing, as well as ongoing professional growth for our teachers that translates directly into more effective and inspiring instruction. Well-maintained spaces will support learning, exploration, and creativity every day. We will communicate regularly about curriculum updates, faculty development, and facility care, so you can see and feel the impact of this investment on your child's growth, confidence, and daily experience at NHC.

A Vision Worth Investing In

The measure of a school is not its tuition level but its faithfulness to mission and effectiveness in academic outcomes and character formation. This financial structure creates the foundation for NHC to thrive for generations.

Imagine with us:

  • Teachers who are professionally supported, fairly compensated, and continuously growing
  • Facilities that communicate beauty, order, and careful stewardship
  • Students formed in wisdom and virtue, equipped to think clearly, love what is good, and live faithfully
  • Families united by purpose, supporting one another through the formative years of their children

This is what thoughtful, sustainable planning makes possible for your children. This is what your partnership brings to life every day at NHC.

We welcome your questions. This is an important decision, and we want to walk through it with you.
